Anthropology and Global Health

CULANTH 218S

Investigates connections between anthropology and global health. Readings based on ethnographic research conducted globally. Topics include cross-cultural experiences of epidemics, ethical implications of globalizing clinical trials, moral and political dimensions of health and humanitarian interventions, connections between nationalism and population policy, overlaps between traditional healing systems and public health programs, how gender ideologies shape reproductive health, and questions of identity, power, and ethics amidst global rollout of HIV therapies. One course.
