Childhood in Theory and Practice

CULANTH 433S

Critical examination of childhood as both a social construction and a diversely lived experience linked to notions of race, class, gender and national identity. In addition to examining how they function as objects of moral panics and political projects, we will also approach children as agents of change. We will consider topics such as education, human rights, child labor, consumerism, media, and adoption. One course.
