How has being a Cultural Anthropology graduate from Duke helped shape you personally and/or professionally?

"It has helped me enormously connecting with clients, direct reports, etc. understanding the psychology of how people conduct themselves, their social-economic background. The ability to read and adapt to people and groups of people is so essential in my line of work. Cultural Anthropology taught me all of that."

What advice would you give students in Duke's Cultural Anthropology programs? 

"The lessons, history, and all around content you learn in these courses will prepare you for the “real world”. Understanding how to engage and interact with people is a lost art. We live behind keyboards, and it’s really sad that the art of carrying on personal or business conversations has been lost. Also, we are understands how groups of people based on a plethora of different parameters is essential in your everyday life. It helps you understand, sympathize, or question people ‘s motives/mentality."
