How has being a Cultural Anthropology graduate from Duke helped shape you personally and/or professionally?

"My studies in Cultural Anthropology helped shaped my world view and lens to help me effectively work with and lead people and organizations, help others grow their perspectives, and develop relevant strategies, plans, and operations as I've moved throughout my career. I've flew helicopters as a Naval Aviator on Active Duty in the military deploying on ships all around the world, worked in corporate America in manufacturing, and served as a Foreign Area Officer working in Embassies and with foreign militaries in the Middle East and Asia. I also share my love of cultural anthropology with my children and, in my free time, have even started a book series for children celebrating cultures around the world."

What advice would you give students in Duke's Cultural Anthropology programs?

"The degree is not limiting and can be applied in anything you want to do. I enjoyed a dual degree path because I could expand into other areas of interest that complemented my studies."
